A set of three Shipibo earthenware vessels with intricate geometrical patterns. Almost resembling electronic circuit boards.
One bowl and two jars or pots.
The Shipibo of the Ucayali River, a southern tributary of the Upper Amazone in Peru, produce some of the finest polychrome prefire slip-painted earthenware pottery in the world.
Also notable is that they are one of the few indigenous groups in which the primary artists are women.
The Shipibo see and hear these geometric patterns in nature and reproduce the designs on their clothing, face paint, etc…
Every design carries its own specific meaning.
